Therefore, You and I are strangers or guest in this world. A guest must live as a guest. He dares not even say he's hungry until the host gives him food. He has no choice but to say the food provided by the host is good. The guest would not complain about the inconvenience he encounters. He would just have to be content as though everything is fine. The guest is the most resilient to abuse. It is totally inappropriate for the guest to live like the host. Children and immature people often improperly act like the host, which results in embarrassing themselves. Do you know that you are a guest in this world? Or are you like a host in this world? The characteristics of living as the host include being aggressive, intolerance, impulsive, engaging in fighting, boasting, and looking down on others.
Because you and I are visitors to the world, there will come a day when we need to leave this world. However, no one can predict when that will be. Moses said, "Our days may come to seventy years, or eighty, if our strength endures; yet the best of them are but trouble and sorrow, for they quickly pass, and we fly away." (Psalm 90:10) Not everyone lives to be seventy. Many left this world at various ages. People are used to sending off the dead loved ones to the grave several times without thinking when their turn will come. You and I are going to leave this world at any time. It is impossible to know when and how it will be. Therefore, it is necessary to prepare in advance before our departure time.
When traveling, one needs to know the address of his new destination. Only a fool who travels does not know where he's going. So, where are we going after leaving this world? Do you know the address of where you want to go? How can you get there if you don't know the address? After a person is born, he spends seventy or eighty years in this world and then off he goes to his eternal destination. For him, there are two possible destinations: either heaven, a dwelling place of perfect happiness, or the lake of fire, where there is no end of suffering.
Everyone is born to go to hell by default whether he knows it or not; whether he believes it or not. This is because Adam and Eve, the parents of all human kind, did not listen to God but to Satan instead. However, it is not enough to keep blaming on the two patriarchs. Whether we agree or not, you and I are marching into the lake of fire once we were born to this world. But because they are spiritually blind and do not know what's going to happen in the future life, people of this world are not afraid, nor they look for a way out. Rather than thinking ahead about the suffering they would suffer for eternity in the lake of fire, people of the world are only trying to solve the problems while they are alive. On top of that, Satan also does not want anyone to have the thought of going to hell. Because he does not want to go to hell alone, Satan wants every human being to go with him. Therefore, Satan draws the attention of everyone with lies and material things of the world, so that they will not be able to hear and know God's salvation plan.
Although the person is destined for hell as described above, because God has mercy on mankind, He prepares a way for them to escape from hell. Jesus himself said, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16). Perishing means eternal suffering in hell. If you believe in Jesus, the Son of God, you can be saved from the eternal lake of fire.
John the Baptist said, "Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them." (John 3:36)
Paul said, "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 6:23) God "wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth." (1 Timothy 2:4) "And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus." (Ephesians 2:6)
And John said, "And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life." (1 John 5:11-12). Therefore, God's purpose and will for all people is to have eternal life, and to turn away from the lake of fire. You are included in the "all people." Therefore, God's purpose for you is to go to heaven to live happily ever after for all eternity. Do you want to go to heaven? Do you want to have eternal life?
John said, " I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life." (1 John 5:13) "But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name." (John 20:31) John said the reason for writing the Gospel of John and the epistle of John was so that the readers would know where they will be heading, and that they would know while they are still alive that they will have eternal life. However, most people do not know where they will end up when they die. They have no desire to know; they do not feel the need to know. If there is someone to tell them, they would get angry the person and don't want to hear from them at all. Are you such a person?
Paul said, "The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ" (Romans 8:16-17) Have you known the testimony from within that you are a child of God? Without that evidence, you will be unsure about your status. You will not have confidence. If you are not a son of God, you must be a son of Satan. The reason you are the son of Satan is because people are naturally born as Satan's children.
The Israelites, God's chosen people, said they are not illegitimate children. They said the only Father they have is God himself. (John 8:41). Jesus then let them know their true status saying, "You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires." (John 8:44) Why could these people not accept Jesus? It was because they were not the children of God. They are of Satan. Today, why do those who claim to be Christians are not interested in spiritual things and matters related to going to heaven? It is because they are not the children of God. They are of Satan. Are you a child of God or a child of Satan? If you are a child of God, you will be interested in matters related to God. If you are a child of Satan, you will only be interested in the thing of this world that belongs to Satan. Children yearn for their parents' home and want to go there as soon as possible. Why don't many people want to go to heaven? What do they not want to hear? It is because God is not their father.
The poor and the ugly want to be beautiful and become children of the rich parents. However, that is impossible. Although all human beings were born as Satan's children, God makes a way for us to become his children. We know this because the Bible said, "Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God." (John 1:12). He gave the right to become God's children to all who accepted the Lord Jesus. However, why do many people not want to become God's children? The easiest reason is because they don't know. The thought of not being a child of God does not bother them. They are as content as can be as long as they possess the wealth and fortune this world has to offer. Even if they suffer in the world, because they are blind in spirit, they do not put value on the right of being the children of God. They simply are not interested in becoming one either. Are you now truly a child of God? Or pretending to be one? If you are not a child of God, you will not be allowed to enter the heavenly kingdom of God.
Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it; Unless the Lord guards the city, the watchman stays awake in vain. It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows; for so He gives His beloved sleep. (Psalm 127:1-2)
